Your Opportunity
The Head of Learning and Development is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a training centre and any associated initiatives which are prepared specifically for the DCA academy. These include classroom and simulator training, development of dedicated materials/manuals, development, and implementation of Academy Programmes.
The role of the Head of Learning and Development is placed alongside the Heads of departments at Sharjah ANS, all accountable to Contract & Manager Air Traffic Services. HE/She will be accountable for all the key accountabilities listed and shall maintain the relationship between Serco and DCA through this role.The nature of the work requires the job holder to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the customer and/or customer representative; with external agencies, specifically regulatory bodies such as the GCAA; and with other relevant stakeholders.

This role will be based in Sharjah Airport.
Key Accountabilities
Achievement of these objectives will require effective and efficient utilisation of the skilled workforce, rigorous oversight of standards and practices, timely and appropriate responses to, and anticipation of the customer’s requirements.
Promoting and establishing the academy with product and programme delivery.
Accountable for ensuring that the academy follows the local regulatory requirements with regards to delivery of training.
Defining and monitoring the required quality and standard of training given by the training staff.
Ensuring training policies and processes are suitable for task and regulatory requirements.
Communicating/promoting policies, procedures, and standards throughout the academy.
Ensure annual training plans are developed, prioritised, and delivered across the academy. Work closely with the learning and development team to identify training needs across the academy and ensure the academy’s training programmes are aligned with Serco and DCA training requirements.
Ensuring that all training documentation, manuals, and courseware are fit for purpose and meet the requirements for the business.
Specific Requirements
Experience in an ICAO-compliant training Academy including a classroom and simulator environment.
A strong knowledge of aviation operations as it relates to scheduling, compliance, and a comprehensive understanding of customer needs for those services.
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills including motivating and influencing others to deliver required organisational outcomes.
Demonstrated experience leading and promoting cultural change, employee engagement that would also enable the promotion of Serco’s Values and Code of Conduct.
Experience of managing people and the provision of services to a corporate client.
Experience in a multi-cultural environment is essential.
Previous Middle East experience is essential.
