Product Manager, TV Plus (MENA), Samsung Electronics, Dubai, UAE

Position Summary

This role will be focused on maximising the potential of Samsung TV Plus in three new territories: UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. This will be the first time for TV Plus in the Middle East, and we are looking for someone with extensive local knowledge of the streaming market together with editorial experience and digital product expertise.

As the first TV Plus team member in the Middle East you will most likely need to turn your hand to a range of different tasks to support the wider team based in London. This will include some ops and tech aspects of supporting the launch of channels as well as content curation, marketing liaison and general trouble shooting. These are all vital ingredients to the success of the product launches and ongoing viewing experience.

Post-launch, there are many ways we can influence visitors to TV Plus and increase their level of engagement with the product. Converting from casual visitors to active viewers, or from active to engaged viewers is critical to our strategy for the product, and content curation will play a huge part in that effort. This role will work very closely with the broader team to ensure consistency of messaging and signposting, both off-product and within TV Plus

 

Role and Responsibilities

• A significant area of focus for this role will be to handle the curation of each territory, constantly thinking of ways to keep the experience fresh through ongoing improvements. In addition to this the main responsibilities will be:
• Align with ops and engineering teams to ensure the service meets TV Plus targets (from content ingest to delivery) and global technical strategy
• Track, analyse and report performance and SLAs
• Make key content and marketing recommendations for each territory to maximise audience potential
• Work closely with the business development team to suggest new content for each territory to keep the content proposition fresh

 

• Review new third-party channel propositions for inclusion on TV Plus, working to the content strategy to ensure a good balance and mix of channels, working in partnership with the business development and ads teams to gauge suitability
• Ensure that content curation for TV Plus in each territory is kept exciting and appealing, working closely with the marketing and promotions team
• Develop and handle positive working relationships with colleagues, content partners and other teams within Samsung and be able to give and take constructive feedback when needed
• Be the content and editorial champion and authority for our Middle East markets

Skills and Qualifications

• Must have previous experience working at a public-facing general entertainment TV or video-on-demand product
• Native Arabic speaker with a good command of written and spoken English
• Knowledge and experience of the TV landscape in UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
• A firm understanding of end-to-end media workflow solutions (cloud or on premises)
• Shown editorial skills: a good understanding of content, audiences and viewer habits and the ability to interpret performance data
• A sound editorial judgement, with the right knowledge to know when to seek guidance and escalate

 

• Good knowledge of editorial guidelines and compliance policies that are common to any family-friendly video-on-demand product
• Ability to communicate and operate across multiple teams providing support on digital media technologies
• Knowledge and experience of using an online content management system, with an understanding of general technical workflow and the ability to troubleshoot and fix common issues if needed
• Effective planning and organisational skills. The ability to handle several initiatives at once and prioritising tasks effectively, and reacting to late requests and fast-changing events
• The ability to maintain standards of accuracy and attention to detail when working to tight deadlines
• Experience of managing presentation imagery, and the ability to figure out makes a good image composition
• A good understanding of metadata and how it can be used to support content curation and promotion
• Calmness, enthusiasm, sense of humour, a can-do attitude and the willingness to pitch in when needed
• A genuine passion for video on demand and TV products in general, with a desire to build the best product experience possible

Job Purpose

What will your main responsibilities be

Assist the Innovation lead in driving the portfolio and innovation deployment for each brand across the relevant markets:

Help define the strategy into action for GAL, Ponds and Vaseline.

Individually lead the innovation & renovation projects deployment working with the cross-functional team (incl BG teams, local marketing, R&D, SC, procurement, finance, etc). Follow innovation governance, owning the project network with full accountability.

Localise global projects and adapt them to the needs of Arabian Consumer.

If needed, adapt media assets to the needs of relevant markets assisted by the BU teams.

Develop in-depth understanding of the relevant markets, needs and the business environment.

Be the first point of contact for all markets and cross-functional teams for the Innovation projects.

What you need to success:

Experiences & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration.

3 - 5 Years experience in Marketing.

Proficiency in English is Mandatory and Arabic Language is a plus.

Experience in Brand Development is a plus.

Passion for Beauty and Skin Care, naturally curious.

Adept to lead cross functional teams - with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

A natural Project leader is essential with experience on project management and in leading and influencing cross-functional team to deliver projects.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities as well as demonstrating real ownership and accountability.

Outstanding Written And Verbal Skills
A Keen Interest In New Media And Technologies
