Rig Manager, KSA

We need a Rig Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates core values and safety standards according to the H&P way
• Ensures the safe operation of the facility, including the work site, equipment and personnel that come directly under their control and complies with health, safety and environmental legislation
• Directs and supervises work of area personnel; determines work priorities and schedules work assignments; interviews and recommends candidates; evaluates, orients, counsels, and trains subordinate personnel and recommends associated personnel action
• Defines projects objectives; develops operating plan; including manpower requirements, in compliance with senior management decisions. Develops programs to comply with organization requirements
• Analyzes and oversees drilling operations including safety and recommends changes in procedures to meet goals and objectives
• Identifies, develops, and recommends revision of standards, operating procedures, and new programs to reduce operating cost and improve efficiency; provides team with clear and concise written and verbal guidelines
• Investigates incidents, accidents and injuries and submits reports
• Plans and directs team to erect, dismantle, and move drilling rigs
• Plans delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site
• Inspects rig and submits rig condition reports
• Monitors the conditions of drilling rigs and equipment to ensure preventive maintenance procedures are followed

RIG MANAGER

• Evaluates well bore to determine result of drilling
• Serves as a liaison with leased oil site operating personnel
• Prepares reports for managerial review concerning drilling progress, operational problems, and equipment requirements
• Up to date on current WorkDay trainings as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Proficient in PC and software such as E.A.M., H&P applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams)
• Must have proven leadership skills
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be committed to the H&P Way and H&P’s core values of Actively C.A.R.E., Service Attitude, Innovative Spirit, Teamwork, and Do the Right Thing
• Demonstrated commitment to H&P’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and CARE processes (COACH people-based safety, Compass Cards, LifeBelts, JSAs, hot-work, confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out, dropped object prevention, etc.) with a proven track record
• Must have the ability to communicate with partner/customers, to effectively handle concerns, performance reviews and to ensure customer satisfaction in general
• A demonstrated ability to use critical thinking skills to effectively leverage all resources, both people and equipment
• Must be a team player
• Demonstrate ability to manage rig maintenance and schedules
• Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills
• Very flexible and adaptable, able to overcome
• Ensures compliance with H&P policies and makes recommendations to coordinate with local requirements
• Liaises with statutory authorities
• In conjunction with site and in country management, recommends and is responsible for implementing safety and security measures for protection of:

i. Personnel against threat or injury

ii. Intrusion or threat of intrusion by trespassers

iii. Company property and assets against loss from sources, such as fire and theft to include intellectual property and proprietary assets

iv. IT software and hardware, including guarding against IT threats, including identifying risks and seeking assistance from Corporate IT resources

• Provides regular updates and reports and partners closely with the Operations Manager and Superintendent
• Ensures the employee relations environment facilitates an uninterrupted supply of labor and fulfils management practices to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
• Willingness to learn and understand the application of relevant Saudi legislation as it pertains to Drilling, HSE obligations and expectations, financial reporting and audit, Immigration, Import / Export / logistics, Employee Relations
• Ability to effectively work in indigenous environments
• 6 years of rig drilling experience at the Supervisory level

YOUR IMPACT

You will deliver content expertise across topics such as maintenance, reliability and operations functions for our oil and gas clients.

In this role, you will help clients build capabilities in delivery and execution, both during an active project and continuing after we’ve shared our recommendations. You will work in teams to build the capabilities, systems and processes needed to deliver results and then ensure those results are sustained. To do this, you will bring and maintain or develop genuine expertise in the oil and gas sector across multiple clients you will serve.

You will have responsibilities across all phases of our client development work, from initial business development and delivery to maintaining great relationships with clients during projects and beyond. You will collaborate closely with clients and drive analyses to provide unique insights. You will also support the development and maintenance of proprietary knowledge capabilities in conjunction with other experts in local and global practices. You will be based in our Riyadh office as part of our Saudi Client Capabilities Hub and will work closely with our Global Energy and Materials practice.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or petrochemical engineering or geoscience and a quantitative background in econometrics, physics or equivalent

3+ years of proven experience in both Upstream (exploration, drilling, production) and Downstream (refining, processing, distribution) operations within the Oil & Gas industry

Experience with advanced technologies such as digital oilfield solutions, predictive maintenance, or process optimization tools.

Knowledge of global energy markets and trends impacting the Oil & Gas sector

Experience working with numbers/quantitative models

Strong problem-solving skills and conceptual abilities with an analytical mindset and service-oriented personality

Excellent business acumen and understanding of the main business, economic and financial concepts, and terminology within industry

Strong multitasking abilities

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization

Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively

Fluency in English required; fluency in Arabic preferred

As a Services Team Leader – Resource Management (UAE), you will report directly to the Global Field Service Manager. In doing so you will be responsible for managing all resources and logistics required to perform service and maintenance activities at customer sites. You will oversee deployment planning, skill alignment, longrange forecasting, and ensure resource readiness to support business commitments. This role plays a critical part in service delivery, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

The primary responsibility of the Resource Team Leader, focuses on developing competitive strategies to effectively hire, retain, develop, train, & assign skilled Field Service Engineers based on customer requirements all within our Industrial Energy Technology services business (IET).

Strategically the role requires a proactive & a solid planning approach focused on analyzing the region’s Demand, understanding customer needs, developing the team’s capabilities, managing business conflicts, resolving personal issues, building a strong Health & Safety culture, to deliver the best-in-class Field service execution

As a Services Team Leader – Resource Management, you will be responsible for:

• Leading field resource deployment planning and execution to meet customer and business objectives.

• Attending weekly, daily, and Monthly review calls with the extended team (Planners, Service Mangers, Outage excellence etc.…) to support outage planning, ensure the timely fulfilment of resources on the required work scopes and establish a 1-year plan for his/her team.

• Interfacing with customer service managers to support issue escalation and service coordination.

• Developing long‑range forecasts for regional resource needs and contributing to longer‑term plans for the broader operational unit.

• Oversee daily operations ensuring efficiency, productivity, HSE and quality standards are consistently met.

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in all operational activities. Building a strong Health and Safety culture in line with company policies and standards.

• Creating and executing short‑ and long‑term resource plans based on forecasts and business commitments, including staffing, skills planning, and training development.

• Ensuring the right skills and necessary knowledge for the regional resource pool is maintained, to support industry standards and customer requests.

• Collaborating with immigration & execution teams to ensure successful site mobilizations, logistics support and timely fulfilment of customer needs (Visas, gate pass readiness, site training etc.…).

• Assigning training programs to meet regional demand and developing the team’s technical capabilities (Multiskilling). Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams by promoting accountability, innovation, and professional development.

• Coordinating and facilitating career path planning and progression of His/her Field Service Engineers

• Coordinate with the tooling deployment team and manage field service engineers’ equipment that requires calibration.

• Implementing standardized project processes and ensuring departmental alignment with updated procedures.

• Partner with Engineering, HR, and other departments to ensure cross-functional alignment and operational support.

• Liaising with Human Resources for issues concerning retention of employees, contract renewals, exit evaluation, career opportunities, development plans and other HR related matters.

• Suggesting operational improvements in products, processes, and procedures.

• Coordinating and facilitating career path planning and progression of His/her Field Service Engineers

• Driving data integrity of the company’s IT tools (Salesforce database, ERP sytems , Workday etc….)

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

• Preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (OR a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Services).

• 3+ years of experience in managing resources in a service industry, preferably Field Service.

• Strong background in leadership, operations and strategy doing Operations & Resource Management.

• Comprehensive understanding of service on site operations, management principles, fulfilment process and resource optimization

• Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to maximize utilization and assigned hours to achieve /exceed the annual planned target

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal / external stakeholders & cross-functional teams.

• Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams

• Possess good interpersonal and leadership abilities.

• Building a strong partnership with other regions, UK head office, training academy and regional resource managers to leverage cross region utilization, lessons learnt, and assignment opportunities for His/her team members.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and drive results through others

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; able to identify issues, assess risks, and implement practical solutions.

• Familiarity with motors, generators & turbines is preferred but not critical.

• Oil & Gas and Power/energy industry experience preferred but not critical.
