About the Position:

We are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Controller / Vehicle Inspector to join our Commercial Vehicle Team in Dubai. You will be responsible for preparing technicians to accomplish job results and ensuring the quality of the work carried out on customer vehicles by conducting checks. The role involves in interaction with customers during new vehicle delivery in case of demonstrations etc.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include the following:

Follows key processes to achieve specified quality and efficiency targets

Works with the Centre to develop improved, more efficient processes

Talks to customers to understand and summarize the details of the work required or carried out and confirm the complaint symptoms.

Offers customers a detailed technical explanation (where this is required) in a way that recognizes their level of technical proficiency in layman terms that is clearly understood by customers

Coaches and supports apprentice technicians – for example by explaining a repair on a step-by-step basis as it is being carried out or allowing an apprentice to carry out part of a job.

Provides assistance and guidance to colleagues who are less skilled or knowledgeable about a particular vehicle or technology

Works with colleagues and other teams across the Centre to provide a seamless service to customers (e.g. by informally observing and responding to the needs of customers who are not being attended to by other members of staff)

Ensures the Service Advisor is updated at all times with the communication with customer.

Ensures the most appropriate specialist follows up opportunities for sales.

Reports on technical problems using appropriate procedures when dealing with customers and Hino.

Conduct daily meeting with the Workshop Manager and Parts team to exceed performance expectations

 

About You:

The ideal candidate for this role should possess a Trade Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical /Automobile Engineering. You should have at least a minimum of 3 years’ recent experience as a Quality Controller or Inspector or Road Tester in the commercial vehicle industry. You must have an excellent technical knowledge in diagnosing and repairing cars. A valid UAE driving license is a must!

ROLE PURPOSE

The purpose of the role is to lead the development and deployment of cross-functional data science use cases at Al Futtaim Group (AFG). Reporting to the Head of Data Science, the Senior Data Scientist will leverage AI and cloud technologies for ROI maximization through executing forecasting, predictive and optimization analytics models. The role holder will support in coaching/training junior data scientists and developing a set of standards/protocols to ensure that the data science practice is scalable and future-proof.

KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

Work closely with the head of data science, head of analytics strategy and, potentially vendors, to identify analytics opportunities based on a deep understanding of AFG businesses and their information assets.

Lead the delivery of use cases by proposing and delivering advanced analytic models, utilizing a blend of contemporary and traditional data mining techniques, applied to both structured and unstructured data sets.

This includes, conducting data quality assessments, sharing relevant insights with business stakeholders, creating model monitoring solutions and conducting QA on other data science models (built internally or through 3rd party vendors)

Implement models by transforming/optimizing for performance code and deploying them into production - Productionised advanced analytics models

Provide guidance, training and coaching to junior data scientists and the analytics community on data science frameworks, best practices, and technologies.

Support in the development of analytics standards and protocols to ensure scalability and support self-service advanced analytics

Research and stay up to date on latest data science and analytics approaches and practices in the market ensuring that, when relevant, these are appropriately leveraged within Data and Analytics function

 

PERSON SPECIFIC:

Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or any other related quantitative field.

 

Professional Skill Requirements

Proven track record of shipping machine learning-powered algorithm products at B2C-like scale as well as working with cross-functional teams in an agile-like environment

You have a strength in the “design and prototype” part of the ML development pipeline, beginning with

pulling datasets from SQL and ending with serializing ML models and assisting engineers to productionize

model retraining and model serving systems

You have practical experience of running impactful inferential analyses and data investigations to identify recurring patterns, root causes, and propose actionable product solutions

You know how to design approaches to validate findings or test hypotheses, interpret experiments to

measure the impact of new features

When it comes to communicating, you have no problem with ML/algorithm designs clearly to crossfunctional team members, especially engineers and product managers

You have excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills

 

Minimum Experience and Knowledge:

7+ years of working experience in data science, with at least 3 years working in developing and deployment of ML/DL solutions focused on batch and real-time data pipelines

Proven record of delivering business impact through analytics solutions

JOB PURPOSE

Provision of cost management, estimating, measurement and variation evaluation, selection and appointment of Consultants & Contractors, processing payments and administration of Agreements and Contracts within approved financial limits.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Technical

Supporting, as directed, line manager in provision of Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management Services for a portfolio of works or single large project.

Providing commercial advice to AFGRE team and clients to ensure in all respects that risk is minimized, best value is achieved and to maximize the return in investment on projects developed.

Assisting in the preparation of project development feasibility studies and presentations prepared by the AFGRE team including collation and interpretation of cost data and benchmarking.

Report on project costs, budgets and risks/opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

Candidates will hold a bachelor degree in Construction Economics or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and have experience working on major projects preferably working on behalf of the client, contractor or a Professional Quantity Surveying practice.

Knowledge of construction process, procedures, preparing cost estimates, analysing design, managing construction cost and administering contracts gained through formal training or work experience.

Professional qualification (MRICS, MCIOB) a preference but not a necessity.

 

Minimum Experience:

7 to 10 years’ experience in Infrastructure, Retail, Residential, Commercial, High Rise, Hospitality construction experience is essential.

 

Job-Specific Skills:

Majority of the experience must be in Quantity Surveying/ Commercial Management.

Must have knowledge of FIDIC or other forms of Construction contracts.

Involvement in all commercial aspects for large scale projects from inception to completion.

Excellent communication skills - fluency in English is a must.

UAE experience is a must.

Proficient in MS Office suites including MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Autocad software.

Knowledge of proprietary measurement software an advantage but not a necessity.

Knowledge and use of BIM (eg: Revit) an advantage.
