JOB TITLE: Deputy Manager - Rotating Equipment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and Lead a team of engineers and designers in carrying out detailed engineering work for large & medium sized projects assuming entire responsibility for conceptual to detailed design and provide necessary technical information for procurement in compliance with tender specifications/data sheets and within budgeted cost and project schedules.

Review of ITT, identification of scope and technical requirements

Identifies areas of concern and risk, and directs the Teams to develop Risk Register

Critically reviews the sizing and design requirements and identifies areas of optimization and potential cost savings.

Review and moderates as required, the equipment cost and man-hour estimate.

Performs Contract Review exercises and identifies inconsistencies related to scope of work and supply, HSE and technical requirements.

Verify and conceptualize the most optimum work route. Identify a clear scope of work/supply and accordingly plan/schedule the engineering activities and manpower resource.  Identify and quantify total number of engineering deliverables, man-hour allocation, format of delivery, time schedules and other requirements for execution of the work.  

Coordinate with projects and planning on project time schedules, establish target completion dates, ensure target dates are achieved. 

Develop Manpower charts and schedules, recommend, assign and distribute manpower for the execution of engineering activities within budgeted project man-hours.  Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs.

Review and identify design inputs from other discipline documents such as environmental regulations, hazardous area classifications, process design basis, project specifications, process data sheets, P&IDs, control system block diagram, piping material specifications, electrical and instrumentation specifications for packages.

Critically review and check all project deliverables such as data sheets, RFQs, TBEs, PRs generated by Team.

Co-ordinate and participate in various vendor discussions for technical and commercial evaluation of vendor offers.

Administer the preparation of Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials. Review vendor quality plans, ensure vendor equipment’s compatibility and compliance with the scope of client specifications. Coordinate with procurement, ascertain expedite of materials and equipment to site.

Perform vendor document review and check for completeness, correctness and consistency of comments generated by the Team and other disciplines.

Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, conduct internal staff meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance to schedule, allotted man hours and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues.  Update TDR progress reports through the use of PETROCEPT software.

Provide inputs for the preparation of plot plans, organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) coordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.

Monitor and ensure the Team focus on co-coordinating and managing technical interfaces amongst various disciplines and adequately capture changes as work progresses.

Direct and monitor Material Take Off (MTO) activities, identify irregularities and shortfalls, take corrective action as required.

Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality procedures.   Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests; facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.

Interface and provide clarification and guidance and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers, provide start-up assistance as required.

As a Group lead, Supervise and guide two or more leads who involve in detail engineering of projects.    

Perform departmental duties on development of standards, training young engineers and development of young engineers.

Responsible for man-hour estimates, manpower planning and resource allocation

Involve in Department Development activities and Training activities.

Supervise and guide multiple team leads in carrying out proposal engineering and detail engineering.

Assist the HOD in resource development and recruitment.

Leads the activities in converting the project from concept to detailed engineering.   Works within Project Budget requirements. Serves as the tie-in in the department team for inter-discipline engineering concerned with the project. Accountable for overall discipline related activities for the successful completion of project within allotted schedule, manpower and costs.

Decisions on the technical matters of the specified project &internal work distribution.  Consults with Project Engineering Manager and Group Manager on main issues which may affect budget, schedule, resources, layout and equipment specifications. May make recommendations on mobilization/demobilization of personnel. 

Supervise 10 to 15 Engineers and designers as a lead and supervise two or more leads as group leader. 10% of time is spent on Training incumbents.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 20 years of work experience preferable from a background in working for the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry.

Manage the development and preparation of equipment sizing and identification of equipment specifications and interface i.e., packages, compressors, pumps, turbines, controls, power supply, utility requirements, environmental regulation requirements and other assessments. Define metallurgy specifications in accordance to process requirements, administer the development of Mechanical Datasheets. Carry out checking work to ensure quality products are issued.

Minimum 5 to 10 years of ADNOC project experience required in Mechanical Rotating discipline.

Generate sales for Audio Visual systems through developing and maintaining client relationships and expanding the company’s current client base.

 

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

 

Develop a detailed understanding of our products and services

Exhibit a consultative sales approach to determine a customer's needs

Emphasize product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms

Establish professional relationships with manufacturer sales and field sales personnel

Active and ongoing prospecting in the territory

Engage in Account Mapping exercises with Field Sellers to target accounts in territory

Attend trainings and webinars to further product knowledge

Meet or exceed aggressive monthly GP quota

Maintain and expand your database of prospects within assigned territory

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Must-Haves:

Ability to understand, present and demonstrate visual collaboration products and services to end user customers

Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities

Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines

Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Must have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Effective communication and interaction with employees, clients, and colleagues and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization

 

Nice-To-Haves:

Minimum High school diploma or equivalent

A four year degree is preferred

1- 3 years’ experience of direct selling in the AV/VTC area is preferred

Careem Pay is Careem’s very own fintech proposition that supports a wide variety of payments and broader financial use cases, including local P2P transfers, international remittances, and bill payments in the UAE. The wallet is now also a key proposition for Careem captain payouts who receive earnings seamlessly and directly into their Careem Pay (Careem Pay) wallet. You will get to be part of a dynamic and autonomous team from Careem veterans to new tigers who joined on a mission to build Careem Pay all aligned on the same values of ownership, shooting to the moon and being of service to customers, partners, colleagues and captains.

What you'll do

You’ll be responsible for leading Careem Pay’s daily product operations, collaborating across Careem teams to manage strategic projects for Captain Payments. Initial focus of the role will be on operations of Careem Pay for captains in UAE, hence strong strategic and operational expertise is essential to success in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations: Support our day-to-day payment operations in partnership with key external stakeholders. Balance your time between behind-the-desk problem solving and strategic thinking, and on-ground operations and problem solving. Be willing to lend an extra hand to on ground-operations teams as necessary

Captain dispute resolution: Ensuring the relevant SLAs are met and captain payment issues are resolved timely

Develop & Optimize Processes: Monitor product performance to identify the operational gaps, inefficiencies, and risks, and work on solutions in collaboration with various teams. Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary

Product Development: Keep a keen eye out for new features to improve our operations and users' experience. Manage consumer feedback and work with teams across Careem to make sure user feedback is translated into meaningful product iterations

Reliability: Ensure that the captain payments across different channels run smoothly. Issues are proactively addressed with the relevant stakeholders

Develop Relationships: Foster strong relationships with markets and functional teams to ensure efficient and productive working relationships

Product growth: Ideate and execute plans to make users and usage of Careem Pay wallet grow through promos, campaign participations and marketing activations

What you'll need

1-3  years of relevant and proven experience in operations, PMO and/or strategy. 

Strong analytical capabilities, hands-on with  Excel

Experience in defining solutions to complex problems

Balance attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well

Self-starter - the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role

You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away

Ability to work on-ground with a “Yes, can do” and “get it done” attitude
