Job Description

THE POSITION

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Operations will overlook the Hotel’s operations including Front Office & Guest Relations, Food & Beverage, Culinary & Stewarding, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security as well as Spa & Recreation. They will maintain a consistent presence on the floor and will have a sharp eye for details. They will ensure that the strategy and vision is set for all departments, ensuring the maximization of revenue yield and capture, oversee the financial aspects of the above-mentioned operations, optimizing profits and revenue while ensuring the highest level of service quality is provided to Hotel guests.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Set, plan and direct the operations and departments to achieve agreed goals of revenue, gross operating profit, competitive RevPar Index, Guest Satisfaction, Brand Consistency and Colleague Engagement.

Monitoring the activities and trends of the Competitive set and keep up to date with international trends in order to ensure the competitive advantage of the hotel

To conduct daily briefings in the absence of the General Manager to ensure that all departments receive updated information and to attend all other meetings as required by the General Manager

Providing creative ideas to project and enhance the image of the hotel;

Monitoring the brand standards in all areas and ensuring that Department Heads and leaders take corrective actions as necessary

Ensuring that guests in the hotel are receiving the best possible service available in order to make continuous improvement

Support the hotel’s annual budgeting process and adhere to the Accor & Ennismore established guidelines.

Assist in managing the operations and the hotel’s budget as well as ensuring that expenses incurred are within budget and in line with the Accor & Ennismore established guidelines.

Lead and guide the Hotel operations team teams in driving the Hotel strategies to achieve its Key Performance indicators (KPI’s) and goals

Liaising with the General Manager and Director of People & Culture in matters relating to recruitment and disciplinary procedures

Working with the People & Culture Department to ensure that the right candidates are selected from the market for key positions

Follow Accor & Ennismore protocol in approving expenses, and obtaining approvals from the appropriate stakeholders for items which require approval at this level before implementation.

Help to ensure all Marketing, Digital and PR Communications are following Hyde Brand Standards and Marketing guidelines and are relevant to the market, and thought through as to bring value to the property and services.

Support with recruitment, appointment and promotion of team members

Control Payroll and Business Expenses of all departments reporting to them

To oversee the that all guest rooms, public & back of the house areas including kitchen areas are well maintained and cleaned

Ensure that maximum departmental profit is achieved

Ensure that operating costs are controlled

Conducting performance appraisals of Department Heads reporting into them

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Solid business / financial acumen with good understanding of lifestyle and/or luxury hotel operations

Act as a role model in delivering lifestyle service

Lead by example in building strong employee engagement

Proven track record in leading a diverse culture of leaders and employees effectively

Good communicator with fluency in English. Ability to communicate in Arabic is desirable

A creative and out of the box thinker, with a never say no attitude

Team player, Motivator and self-starter

Displays initiatives and always open to new ideas

Customer/people oriented

A passion for excellence and delivering high quality personalized and unique services

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor degree in Hotel Management

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years in lifestyle / luxury hotel management experience with strong Rooms and / or F&B background

Experience in a hotel leadership role in the UAE is a must

Responsibilities

As a member of the Building Design team, you will be involved in real projects from day one, with exposure to some of the most demanding projects. The role will include:

Representing Atkinsréalis on a daily basis to our Clients, contractors and Stake Holders.

Management and coordination of the MEP Design Team over multiple projects

Management of the coordination with other services and/or sub-consultants

Strong communication skills will be required to interact with project stakeholders, where necessary explaining and dissecting our designs and providing direction to our design team.

Demonstrating commercial awareness with the administration of Change Control system.

Minimum Requirements

Building Services/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering BSc. degree from an internationally recognized University.

Chartered Engineer with the relevant Institute

20+ years’ experience in delivering major projects.

15+ years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary Team Leader position

An in-depth understanding of all MEP and building services design processes.

The ability to think laterally and possess a sound understanding of engineering principles with the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

The ability to build and develop relationships, both internally and externally.

Experience on design and build project would be advantageous.

Experience of working with Contractors

Previous experience of leading multi-disciplinary design teams and responsibilities for budgets and programming

Commercial awareness essential with an understanding and ability to administer Change Control.

Computer literate with all standard project design and development software including Microsoft, BIM etc.

Strong communication skills will be required to interact with multiple internal and external Teams and project stakeholders.

The Individual

Demonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction within the MEP industry

Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions.

Able to work and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Flexible approach to work

Ability to work on your own initiative.

Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgments.

Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments.

Aspiration to grow with responsibility and to manage a growing team of skilled engineers.

Ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues.

Well-motivated and able to work as part of a team or on individual assignments when required.

Excellent English spoken and written skills within a business environment.

Responsibilities:

 ·        Installs, configures and maintains application platforms and systems.

·        Establishes and reviews system, application and user security controls while enforcing regulatory compliance standards.

·        Maintain the health of systems including trend analysis for capacity planning, proactive health assessments for performance tuning and recommendations and implementation of best practices.

·        Understanding of network devices.

·        Create and maintain technical documentation for environments, including network diagrams, installation and configuration procedures, troubleshooting guidelines, and operational procedures.

Investigate and propose ways to maximize benefits from applications and platforms. works with stakeholders to receive approval and implement changes.

 

Qualification & Skills:

Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or equivalent experience.

Comfortable with Enterprise Resource Planning programs and tools.

Fluent in a variety of programming languages, software, and systems.

Able to work in an environment using cloud systems.

Experience working with Linux, Redhat, Windows and other operating systems.

·        Experience working with SQL, Oracle and big data solutions.

Solid computing and scripting skills.

Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.

·        Senior technical application support experience with strong troubleshooting skills and should be able to analyze servers, system dumps, heaps dumps and all logs to determine root cause of issues.

·        Leading application upgrades and other technical projects.

·        Maintain environments by applying necessary fix & feature packs.

·        Stays abreast of emerging software enhancements and bug fixes.

·        Understanding on network technologies.

·        Good working knowledge of applications third-party components like Apache, Tomcat, MySql, DB2, IIS, etc.

·        Knowledge of OpenShift technology is a plus.
