The Greenhouse is the space for entrepreneurs in the UAE, housing our Startup Studio & our Programs vertical, powered by Chalhoub Group. Using lean startups methodologies, we aim to rapidly co-create and launch traction-heavy ventures that result in long-term revenue or high returns through new business models, categories, and markets. We invest in uniqueness, disruption, and calculated serendipity.

Our Startup Studio Specialist will play a pivotal role as part of The Greenhouse core team reporting to the Head of Startup Studio. You will be driven to achieve success for our Startups’ Portfolio, the Startup Studio, and The Greenhouse.

Your Mission:

To provide entrepreneurs & founders with an unparalleled platform, equipping them to transform their ideas into successful and scalable startups. Your role involves offering them the necessary tools and practical guidance, while ensuring their success and competitiveness in the startup ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be involved in the ideation process and actively participating in workshops for problem identification and solution designing

You will support our founders in developing the hypothesis and define metrics for success

You will sketch out customer journeys in visual scenarios

You will be hands-on in building prototypes using available low-tech tools

You will run experiments: test, learn, iterate, and repeat based on data-driven evidence

You will support the founders in analyzing results and drawing the roadmap going forward

You will support founders in acquiring their first customers and sales

You will support the startup in conducting A/B testing to improve conversion rates

You will support the startup in customer retention and customer engagement

You will support the startup with GTM (Go-To-Market) strategies and execution

What you'll need to succeed:

University degree (MSc or equivalent)

Strong familiarity with lean startup methodologies [must]

Broad knowledge and hands-on implementation of available tools to create low tech solutions [must]

Proven results in finding and acquiring early adopters to reach product market fit

Proven results in scaling early adopters and boosting early-stage revenue.

Good mix of technical, growth and UX/UI know-how

Robust knowledge of low or no-code tools to build product, grow sales, and acquire users/customers

Be a strategic thinker, with execution mindset; a doer

Key Traits:

You are passionate about problem solving

You are a fast learner and are not afraid to make mistakes

You are a both a creative and analytical thinker

You are experienced in using different sets of tools and know when and how to use them for prototyping and testing purposes

Duties & Responsibilities

Manages, coordinates and leads multiple medium-sized landscape design projects independently with less oversight. Prepares deployment based on the fee provided for review with the senior team.

Operates as a technical lead for medium-scale landscape projects with a strong capability to coordinate multiple disciplines and communicate project requirements.

Leads client interface/meetings and manages project’s contractual requirements. Oversees and coordinates project deliverables with client, consultants/subs and other teams. Provides clear solutions for delivery.

Plans and conducts design and creative review sessions for ongoing projects and competitions.

Aware of all public realm design standards and applies them across landscape projects.

Contributes to the studio design ethos discussions and design drivers.

Bridges between delivering design ideas and delivering to budget. Understands client objectives and steers design thinking accordingly.

Leading and delivering entire technical packages independently with review from senior staff.

Full understanding of the planting and irrigation requirements/standards and guidelines per region.

Leads and delivers designs independently with review from senior staff.

Identifies new potential areas of innovation and improvements in design ideas and presentations that the landscape team can benefit from. Promotes innovation and change in the landscape design graphics across projects and documents the same for wider team use.

Promotes the use of new innovative digital tools in landscape design projects and engage in internal research and development.

Fair knowledge of the market and helps in reviewing landscape cost plans on projects.

Organizes internal libraries and updates Landscape capabilities statements and project sheets for ongoing/completed projects.

Gain experiences on site for an ongoing landscape-built projects and resolves issues on sites.

Assists and updates project financial status on projects; writes change orders/variation orders for the project they are responsible for in liaison with Project Manager and Project Director.

Identifies skills gaps and helps in the sources, interviews and recruitment of new joiners.

Manages, coordinates and delivers landscape bids and proposals while tailor technical approach, methodologies and delivery structure. Prepares and coordinates commercial aspects of bids in line with project expectations.

Be an advocate of quality procedures applicable to the Landscape Design Technical practice group and apply continuously thorough self-checks and reviews of deliverables before being shared. Reviews and checks deliverables as per QA/QC requirements

Provide professional mentorship/guidance to junior staff members.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in Landscape Architecture

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urbanism, or other relevant area of expertise.

Professional membership such as ASLA, Chartership Landscape Institute, CSLA, AILA, SILA, IFLA or equivalent required.

A position has arisen to assist the Middle East Senior Finance Lead in delivering a high quality and effective financial reporting, forecasting / budgeting, and project support function for MEA. The role will be focused on ensuring delivery of clear, accurate and insightful budgets/reports as well as provide support to divisions in terms of project reviews and other value add activities.

Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of robust and complete quarterly forecasts and annual budget to the standards and timescales set by Group Finance functions;

Lead the preparation of month end accounts and completion of deliverables in a timely manner;

Support the Head of FP&A and Finance Director with ad-hoc initiatives and analyses;

Financial support to and advice to the project directors and managers, ensuring they understand the financial performance of their projects;

Assist in driving business operational improvement projects and in setting up a strong control environment and promote good financial practices throughout the business;

Ensure compliance to business Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and use of best accounting practices;

Develop strong working relationships with team members and other key stakeholders;

Review and support to bids within the region when required;

Delivery of finance training to project managers and project directors as required;

Manage FP&A team ensuring their career development and coaching;

Seek opportunities to learn new skills and aspire to develop within the team.

Technical Competencies

Essential

Fully Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA/CPA or other recognised Western Accounting qualification;

Minimum of 5 years experience within a business support Finance role;

Highly organised, able to prioritise tasks and delegate effectively

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (knowledge of Data Modelling, PowerPivot and PowerBI tools is an advantage). Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office tools;

Attention to detail with a high standard of (numerical) presentation skills;

Produce insightful analysis and clearly communicate findings;

Good understanding of a project lifecycle and the different measures of financial performance;

Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively at all levels;

Strong financial reporting skills with an understanding of IFRS;

Highly analytical, able to manipulate and interpret complex data from multiple sources;

Excellent communication in English (both written and oral).

Experience of interacting with multiple businesses and finance functions;

Experience of working within a multi-cultural environment;

Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively at all levels. 

Desirable

Prior experience working within a Engineering Consultancy business;

Has prepared project related financial reports and reconciliations relating to, project expenses, billing, debt, provisions, and utilisation;

Exposure to preparing statutory returns and financial statements;
