EY is supporting our clients globally to develop strategies, design and build innovative solutions to transform, sustainably. In MENA, you will join a growing team of sustainability professionals in our Consulting Service Line, presenting a unique opportunity to make a real difference. You will be driving the delivery and implementation of market-leading projects, consulting on key strategic issues in the region, building networks, as well as driving market activities and client side delivery of sustainability-related products and services.

There are a wide range of exciting projects that you will be able to get involved in, across energy, infrastructure, finance and government sectors. You will work with clients at all levels to help them navigate the sustainability agenda. Topics we cover include:

Decarbonisation: decarbonisation technology, science-based targets, strategies, capital allocation and business case development, emissions trading: climate mitigation and adaptation, climate scenario analysis, adaptation strategies

Energy: new energy strategies, renewables and hydrogen, energy efficiency

Natural capital: valuing natural capital, environmental strategies

Sustainability-related issues: reporting (e.g. TCFD, TNFD, ISSB), ESG strategy, implementation and delivery of sustainability transformation strategies

Business strategy: influencing capital flows and decisions making processes, value chain sustainability

Implementation: support our clients to deliver upon commitments

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Sustainability capital projects, asset development and management, support with the management of our sustainability technology alliance ecosystem, including assets and accelerators. Specifically, there is a need to build and manage data-enabled climate assets tailored to the MENA region that leverages and integrates with EY’s existing assets and accelerators.

Provide advice to clients on the challenges, implications and opportunities of the climate transition and broader sustainability-related issues. Your insights will play a critical role in improving the sustainability performance of an organisation.

Deliver key sustainability-related projects for our clients on the abovementioned topics, including supporting and/or leading large-scale programs of work.

Work with the project heads, lead teams or parts of teams on engagements, keeping a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, and escalate issues as appropriate.

Collaborate with the wider team to identify and seize business development opportunities in the MENA region. Your expertise in sustainability and climate advisory will be instrumental in winning impactful and transformational projects.

Support and drive the preparation of proposals in relation to our Consulting offerings to our clients. It is important to collaborate cross service lines to ensure the clients needs are addressed with our best of firm capabilities.

Create innovative and commercial insights and solutions for clients, adapt methods and practices to fit operational team and cultural needs, and contribute to thought leadership.

Actively contribute to improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives, consistently driving projects to completion making sure that the work delivered is industry leading.

Working closely with colleagues, create a positive learning culture and coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

Contribute to the development of EY capabilities in technical areas and engage with clients regarding the application of these methodologies to their businesses.

Collaborate with colleagues outside of Consulting to deliver multi-disciplinary and cross-geographical work.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

As a Senior Manager, you would be expected to manage projects and teams as part of a range of projects, as well as playing a key role in the delivery of the engagement. It is essential that you bring the competencies that will allow you to do this, such as:

 

You should possess the skills to build and manage large capital projects and the enabled assets, leveraging experience and expertise to provide valuable insights to clients.

Build strong networks with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive climate initiatives effectively.

Lead and develop a team of practitioners, guiding them to deliver exceptional results and achieve project goals.

Deeply understand the complexities of climate change and possess proficiency in sustainability in Energy sector (including petrochemicals) to derive meaningful insights from climate-related data.

Strong communication skills are essential to convey complex sustainability-related concepts to clients and internal teams in a clear and concise manner.

Ability to lead and inspire junior staff.

Commercial awareness of market opportunities.

 

Qualifications

Strong academic record and a degree in a relevant discipline.

In-depth understanding of sustainability issues and their connection to business value.

Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering sustainability-related advisory projects.

Familiarity with sustainability best practices, including areas of transformation, supply chain, digitization, business model innovation, and value measurement.

Exceptional commercial acumen and strong leadership skills, coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, managing and guiding team members to achieve project success.

Strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills to provide data-driven insights to clients.

Track record of success and relevant experience in sustainability / ESG at a top-tier consultancy, or other relevant organization.

A strong understanding of any, or a combination of the topics that we cover in our team as listed above.,

Function

Manage electrical aspects, including Technical Safety Lead Inspection. 

In addition to being discipline lead act as package engineer for specific packages 

Ensure that all activates, for which they are responsible, are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements and the Project Management Plan. In particular health and safety of personnel, natural and working environment and equipment shall be taken care of.  

Work with AIP operations team as well as client to ensure clear guidance and clarifications are provided with regards to scope of work and specifically for life extension activities of Electrical.  

Work with AIP operations team to assist Contractor to arrange for required condition assessment inspections by contractor and / or OEM. 

Work with AIP Regulatory Compliance & Verification Lead and Contractors to ensure that required compliance and verification activities in areas of Electrical discipline are defined and executed as required. 

Take lead in ensuring not only Electrical but AIP multidiscipline involvement in review of purchase order specifications, RFQs, vendor bid evaluations, bid clarification meetings up to clear recommendation / identification of vendor selection. It is expected that Electrical Lead will prepare and maintain an engagement matrix to ensure required amount of involvement. 

Responsible for assistance with the maintenance of the Approved Vendor List for the Project including for all disciplines. Engage with other discipline leads (Mechanical, Structural etc.) as needed. 

Comment on the Electrical including arrangement on operability, functionality, accessibility and maintainability to meet requirements in laws, regulations, class, flag and contract. 

Responsible for IDC comments verification and approval within Electrical group, shall conduct team reviews and respond to relevant TQ’s or non-conformances. 

Prepare Electrical technical philosophies, specifications, documents and drawings as required to clearly define the scope of work. 

Monitor and review Contractor’s Electrical activities and deliverables to ensure compliance with all regulatory and contract requirements. Ensure compatibility and functionality of existing and new vessel systems and equipment. 

Participate in work pack review sessions as well as ensure that all work packs prepared by Contractor are complete in terms of scope definition in relevant areas. 

Participate in discipline checks, design reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs and any other related safety studies. 

Report to the Construction Manager any delays in progress under his/her area of responsibility. 

Participate in meetings and inspections as required, worldwide. 

Coordinate Lessons Learned input to AIP Project Management Team. 

Close assigned Technical Query (TQ) and other Action Tracker items in PIMS or formal MOM. 

Collaborate closely with other key disciplines in the Project Management Team. Call off assistance from discipline resources within area of responsibility as needed in order to keep quality and progress. 

Review documentation according to Document Distribution Matrix. 

Act as discipline lead within the Project Management Team for the work scope of Electrical discipline. 

Ensure Electrical philosophies and specifications are included and participate and ensure design verification of Electrical engineering work is performed. 

Participate and follow-up as necessary in technical audits within area of responsibility. 

Oversee the development of relevant documentation for the Electrical systems.  

Contribute and assist with review of operational philosophies, systems and processes. 

Contribute to experience transfer. 

Give input to the Regulatory Compliance Matrix to ensure legislative, class, flag state, Client specifications and AIP philosophy requirements are incorporated into the proposed design covered by the Electrical systems. 

Report to the Construction Manager any delay in progressing the engineering deliverables by Contractor for the project scope. 

Ensures that AIP and Client safety, quality and management standards are implemented and maintained in the development of the Electrical systems. 

Call off assistance from discipline resources within area of responsibility as needed in order to keep quality and progress. 

Ensure good cooperation, communication and alignment between the base organization and the project. 

Provide necessary assistance for interface coordination. 

Liaison and monitor daily construction activities (fabrication, installation, testing activies, insulation etc) with subcontractors/vendor at shipyard. 

Other roles (and role descriptions) as and when required. 

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience 

Technical education on bachelor level or higher within working area. 

Minimum 15 years’ experience within working area. 

Recent experience of working on FPSO.   

Recent experience of working on similar role on UK North Sea projects will be an advantage. 

Recent relevant experience in middle east / south east Asian shipyards is an advantage. 

Strong leadership & interpersonnel skills applied to a multidisciplined project team. 

Diplomacy & assertiveness   

Organised, Systematic & Flexible  

English – fluent written and verbal skills

Job Purpose

The Project Specialist will be responsible for a dynamic portfolio of projects from inception to successful implementation and adoption. Manage internal and external stakeholders including customers and vendors. This role is base d full time in our Dubai office, will require occasional business travel and will be on a 2 year fixed term contract basis.

In this role, you will:

- Be responsible for a dynamic portfolio of projects from inception to successful implementation and adoption. Manage internal and external stakeholders including customers and vendors.

- Manage a number of strategic business projects in compliance with practices, standards and processes defined by departmental and corporate PMO guidelines.

- Organise multiple projects/ priorities by breaking down into project plan assessing how much effort a particular task or project is going to take and assigns resources accordingly.

- Lead, inspire and motivate diverse and cross-functional team members, assesses performance, and coach/ support them.

- Champion relationships across team members and wider stakeholders to help drive business value.

- Act as an SME and support, coach and develop others across the company.

- Inspire team to remain focused despite challenges and setbacks.

- Resolve differences across the different stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

- Provide insight in the project area and pulls together best practices and SMEs to help drive solutions to problems.

- Identify, support and deliver business process improvement opportunities and facilitating subsequent change management activities.

- Review strategic project portfolio, make innovative recommendations and provide insights on progress and performance to enable management decisions.

- Commits to ensuring project deliverables are met and recognises when alternatives need to be considered and changes approach when necessary.

- Assesses the impact of change, risks and interdependencies and develops change management plan to ensure successful delivery.

- Proactively manage project risks and ensure associated mitigation strategies are designed, agreed and implemented with respective stakeholders.

- Understand the role of a project in the greater business context and reflects this in their day-to-day project management.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

- Degree in quantitative discipline such as business administrations / IT /engineering / economics / sciences.

- 6+ years of relevant experience in project management, business improvement or productivity, management consultancy, or technology.

- Ability to quickly grasp new business concepts, understand organizational issues and challenges and understand dependencies across businesses.

- Strong ability to facilitate dialogue and influence a range of stakeholders, including senior executives.

- Advanced planning, organizing and analytical skills to drive critical projects.

- Advanced verbal and written communication and presentation skills to ensure effective correspondence with project stakeholders.

- Advanced Data Collection and Analysis Skills.

- Proficient Budget, business case and Cost Control Knowledge.

You’ll have an edge if you have:

- Certification in CAPM and/or PMP and/or PRINCE 2 Practitioner preferred.

- Certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma would be an advantage.
