Jacobs is looking for a Material Engineer specialized in durability related to infrastructure projects in the Middle East Region. This is a key position providing material science advise to cross cutter disciplines involving bridge, water, ports and marine, rail and buildings.

You will be responsible for preparing durability strategy for the project, developing specification and development of materials to advance technologies of many kinds. You will be an expert in understanding the properties and behaviors of different construction materials, from raw materials to finished products.

As a Material Engineer, you will be developing durability strategy for infrastructure projects exposed to harsh environmental conditions in the Middle East. You will be developing best combination of construction materials suitable for exposure conditions whilst developing specifications for materials to assess how resistant they are to heat, corrosion or chemical attack. You will be responsible for assessing materials for specific qualities (such as electrical conductivity, durability, renewability) and considering the implications for waste and other environmental pollution issues of any product or process. This is a great opportunity for you to ensure that products comply with national and international legal and quality standards and be advising on inspection, maintenance, and repair procedures.

We are looking for the following skills:

Ability to write specifications for steel including coat and painting protection

Ability to write performance specifications for Cathodic protection systems

Ability to develop Corrosion Monitoring and Corrosion Inhibition Philosophies and perform Material Selection Studies for steel structures

Able to undertake Durability study and Assessments including Life Cycle analysis

Ability to perform corrosion failure analysis upon Project/ Assets request

Concrete Mix design

Condition Assessment of existing structures

Repair strategies for concrete structures

Understanding of Underwater concreting

Thermal Modelling of mass concrete is preferred

Understanding of Concrete in Arabian Peninsular including CIRIA 766

Here’s What You’ll Need:

As a successful candidate will have a degree with a specialization in Material Science from an internationally recognized and accredited university. You will be highly proficient in using software/tools associated with durability modelling and have a thorough knowledge of Euro codes, DMRB and AASHTO. You will have a working knowledge of international specifications and Middle Eastern authorities/local municipality specifications. You will be working with a great team so you must have an open and approachable nature, who strives to help and inspire others within the team. You would ideally have experience in design and build schemes, be progressing towards achieving membership/accreditation of an appropriate engineering council or body. You must be fluent in English – reading, writing, and speaking (required) and Arabic is desirable but not mandatory.

Role Summary

We are looking for a strategy analyst to provide accurate and data-based information on new venture project performance, revenues, expenses, and budgets. You will research and analyze past financial information to help the company forecast and provide recommendations on improving the project’s profitability in the future. You will be working closely with all Talabat markets to ensure that the projects are successfully functioning in the applicable markets.

What’s on Your Plate?

Analyze past (actual) performance and compare it with budgeted figures

Monthly comparison between financial KPIs to discover anomalies

Ability to highlight over/underperforming KPIs in each market

Supporting project managers in analyzing potential opportunities that could add value to the project’s performance

Providing creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance

Implement automated processes to enhance the quality of our forecast model, enabling prompt adjustments as necessary

What Did We Order?

SQL, Tableau / PowerBI, Python or similar coding languages is an addition

Highly proficient in Microsoft; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (or Google equivalents)

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving with complex data sets

Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to drive complex ideas and processes to diverse people across markets and teams

Job Description:

Senior Project Controls Manager

Abu Dhabi, UAE

What You'll Be Doing:

Develop, manage, and/or execute all phases of the project controls effort (planning/scheduling and cost analysis)

Excellent skills in progress reporting including schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement

Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to project for the resolution of difficult and complex project control problems

Coordinating with the Engineer in the review and integration of the schedule into client's database

Guide the Contractor in preparation of the schedule to be compatible with the integration requirements

Monitoring, adjusting, updating and reporting the cost plan, cash flows, works’ progress accordingly and the consolidating of these results in weekly and monthly reports

Review and Evaluating Contractor’s Extension of Time claims and verify the Consultant’s recommendations to the Engineer

Manage a team of Project Control Engineers/Specialists who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, and forecast project costs, as well as performance against an established schedule with critical milestones

Assesses the impact(s) of design/construction changes and schedule slippages

Oversees the development and maintenance of an established system to show the hierarchy of plans and schedules; keeps project and company management fully informed

Coordinates staffing requirements, assigns and supervises project work activities, and trains personnel

Completes performance reviews and provides personnel development for the assigned employees

Recommends and oversees the customization of project control systems to meet specific project requirements

Creates statistical reports for management on a recurring or one of a kind basis

Participates in business development efforts by gathering and presenting a variety of background data

May be required to make informal or formal presentations

Experience in administering multiple contracts at any one time.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelor degree in civil engineering or equivalent

Registered member for relevant discipline in Qatar MMUP Engineering Committee or registered member of recognized professional body.

Minimum 15 years post graduate demonstrable experience in Project Planning, controlling and Cost Management in large scale buildings projects.

Ideally 5 years’ experience as Senior Project Controls Manager/ Senior Planner or equivalent.

Proven track record of Project planning, controlling, Cost and Commercial Management skills and experience in large –scale building projects but not limited to the following;

Administration of multiple contract forms.

Working knowledge of FIDIC and other international standards, pre and post-contract planning, budgeting and cost controlling.

Ability to use scheduling software including Primavera P6.2, Claim Digger, Schedule Analyser and other presentation softwares like MS Office, Visio, Crystal Reports etc.

Extensive experience in project planning and cost controlling.

Excellent skills in progress reporting including schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement

Ability to work as part of specialist team, work with minimal supervision.

Experience in administering multiple contracts at any one time.

Ability to handle multi-tasks and work in fast-paced environment.

Organised, effective problem solving and negotiation skills.

Thorough knowledge and skill in interpreting contracts and dealing with variations, conflicts, claims, disputes and other commercial issues.
