Principal Installation Analysis Engineer , McDermott, Dubai, UAE

 Job Overview:

10+ years in oil and gas with major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail design of offshore facilities. Detailed knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the theory, content and application of standards, codes and guidelines as applicable for offshore. Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills.
      
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Become fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiativesto address the issues. interpret contractual requirements as they relate to engineering execution.
  • Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessarysupporting documentation and estimates. Provide similar support for variation orders.
  • Interface with all disciplines to develop clash free designs.
  • Interface with other departments to obtain input for discipline designs and drawings.
  • Maintain close co-ordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, fabrication, Marine and Project Management Team, as required.
  • Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.
  • Prepare estimates for bid proposals, including technical query reviews, execution statements and manhour estimates, identifying software requirements and any other project-specific requirements.
  • Raise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and to maintain preferred 
  • Mcdermott procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and (as Lead Engineer) approve Discipline engineering design basis, philosophies,and technical specifications.
  • Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them in proceeding with theirdeliverables.
  • Assist procurement personnel in procuring discipline equipment, materials and services; ensuring that work produced complies with Customer objectives and procedures. Procurement assistance includespreparing, reviewing, and (as Lead Engineer) approving requisitions, evaluating technical quotationsand preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead Engineer.
  • Assist in updating weight report based on receipt of vendor information.
  • Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessary.
  • Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve design verification through single-discipline check /interdiscipline check (IDC)
  • Provide technical support to all fabrications queries, including identifying defect/rectification 
  • requirements.
  • Keep the Discipline Manager and Project Management Team apprised of all activities and concerns, technical, budgetary and manpower related.
  • Assist in providing inputs for actual, planning and forecasting progress reports including associated productivity.
  • Check final subcontractor and vendor data manuals to ensure that all requested data has been received and approved.
  • Present issues and problems to Customers in a timely manner and assist Lead Engineer in negotiating resolution in accordance with project and company requirements.
  • Perform (as required) Technical Quality Audit reviews in accordance with MDR Global Procedures.
  • Assist Lead engineer with responses to Customer and other agencies (such as certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, etc.) on their review and approval.
  • Capture lessons learned and enter into MDR’s Lessons Learned system.
  • Guide less experience engineers on MDR and Discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, auditors,third parties, etc.) on their review and approval
  • Supervise and guide assigned engineers and coordinate with project Lead Designers for Discipline engineering and design deliverables.
  • Responsible for the engineering integrity of the assigned work area.
  • Monitor costs of own work processes.
  • Assist in the maintenance of departmental technical guidelines and standard calculation notes.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of Global Procedures, Software, and Standards.
  • May participate in standards development committees or task group such as API.
  • Develop communication and presentation skills (e.g, write technical papers, participate in conferences and/or seminars, present design solutions, and/or present topics at ‘lunch and learn’; etc).
  • Identify and provide training to staff in specific techniques and proprietary software.
  • Provide information on employee performance to the Discipline Manager.
  • Assist Discipline manager in interviewing job applicants.
  • Perform, review, and (as Lead Engineer) approve Pipeline Installation engineering designs, analyses,evaluations, calculations and procedures for loadout, transportation, and installation (including installation aids):
    • Submarine pipelines
    • Risers
    • Spools
    • PLETS and manifolds
    • Cables
  • Perform, review, and (as Lead Engineer) approve Structural Installation engineering designs,analyses, evaluations, calculations and procedures for loadout, transportation, and installation (including installation aids) of offshore structures, including barge upgrades/modifications.
  • When acting as Lead engineer, in addition:
    • Act as project-based discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with customer counterparts.
    • Ensure substantive communications are documented.
    • Prepare bids and projects discipline engineering budget and execution plans, updating as required.
    • Identify project staff needs based on knowledge of individual engineer’s skill sets and provide requests to the discipline manager.
    • Plan, organize and assign tasks, responsibilities, and manhour budgets to the discipline team, and verify tasks are completed within budgets.
    • Plan discipline deliverable schedule/register compliant with the overall execution plan.
    • Prepare work forecasts identifying change management plans, corrective action and real-time schedule.
    • Provide discipline inputs for actual, planning and forecasting progress reports including associated productivity.
    • Alert project team of any deviation from the scope or a need for change order.
    • Monitor KPI measurement results and take corrective action as necessary to improve Discipline performance, including performance at interfaces with others.
    • Coordinate with other Discipline Lead engineers and Designers to ensure timely receipt of necessary design inputs.
    • Review and approve requisitions, technical quotation evaluations and queries, compiled bid tabulations and recommendations and purchase requisitions: and coordinate with Procurement to expedite vendor documents as required.
    • Lead the Discipline team during project audits (internal, Customer and third-party technical audits)and Design reviews.
    • Review comments from customers & other agencies on documents and drawings produced by the team and resolve and give guidance on their update and incorporation.
    • Assist Discipline manager in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and manpower planning.
    • Anticipate project engineering needs and plan accordingly.
    • Coordinate with vendor for discipline managed/produced items.
    • Assist Discipline manager and Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager in Performance 
    • Evaluation of project team members

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil, Structural, Marine or Mechanical Engineering; or Naval Architecture

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society.
  • Master's Degree is preferred

 Position Summary

HSE Engineer is a key member of the team in-charged with the design and implementation of the HSE Management System. The objective is to become more progressively effective in quality terms and in meeting both regulatory and accreditation requirements. The responsibility of HSE Engineer is to define HSE Standards for all systems and complying to the same; promote  quality  achievement  and  performance  improvement  of  the  entire organization.

Key Responsibilities & Authorities

    • Defining Policies & Strategies for HSE that are reported to the Top Management

    • Implementing all applicable HSE standards in LIN SCAN
    • Deciding  on  Non-conformities  along with Quality Team
    • Format  &  approval   the  effectiveness  of  the actions taken against the non-conformities
    • Identifying  new  concepts  in  HSE  & implementing the suitable ones
    • Monitoring the performance of  internal auditors
    • Conducting  all  types  of  Quality/HSE  audits within LIN SCAN along with Quality personnel
    • Developing and executing the  HSE Plans
    • Execute all other tasks as requested by the Executive Team within the assigned job role.

Skills/Experience:

    • University Degree  in Engineering (Preferably Industrial / Mechanical / Electro Mechanical / Electrical)
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in HSE activities in Engineering Industry
    • Experienced in Oil and Gas Industry
    • Certification for Lead Auditor ISO 45001, Nebosh HSE certification, NDT L2 as an option

About the Position:

To manage day to day Automotive Parts distribution and logistics operations within Parts department ensuring on time delivery and high customer satisfaction with the support of Parts shipping operation team and sales team. Set, monitor and achieve KPI through daily, weekly and monthly reports to management. Lead a team of light/heavy vehicle drivers and team leaders and develop a highly engaged work force.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

- Able to identify and suggest a cost effective and feasible transport plan for the company

- Ensure and achieve on time delivery to all the region/customer end

- Maintain logs of the total distance travelled by the vehicles

- Monitor expenditure of vehicle maintenance work and should maintain work records, job reports, inventory records and trip reports.

- Ensure that all insurances, salik and registration of the vehicles are renewed on time.

- Conduct mid-year and annual performance review.

- Plan and prepare yearly budget and monitor actual expenses vis-Γ -vis budget

- Ensure all established policy and safety guidelines in workplace

- Ensure all loading and unloading activities are compliance with pre-defined SOP to reduce damages and maximize vehicle fill rate

 

About you:

- Graduate in any discipline

- Minimum 3-5 years in similar position preferred

- Capable of writing instructions and procedures

- Proficient in MS Office

- Must have valid UAE driving license
