The opportunity


Project: Government entity charged with supporting and regulating education in Qatar. That includes a full array of K-12 public and private schools and high-quality institutions of higher education. In the 2019/20 academic year, there are more than 332 private schools serving approximately 211,000 students. Private schools offer a wide variety of curricula, philosophies, and activities that meet the needs of individual students and their families.  This opportunity is for a bid, so it is not yet a secured role


The QHSE coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing organisational safety programs of the project. Ensure All Staff in the project are properly trained for emergencies and maintain the quality and environmental management systems.



Your responsibilities will include:

 


Managing quality, risk, health, safety, and environmental management systems ideally within a large, dispersed portfolio.


Experience of delivering QHSE training to staff &suppliers.


Advising on potential hazards at work sites.


Promoting ‘Safety first - no compromise.’


Administering ‘permit to work’ procedures.


Reviewing and implementing emergency response plans.


Ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of all safety equipment.


Organising safety training for the all the staff.


Ensuring the HSE plans are developed and implemented.


 


About you


You are a digitally savvy, Degree in health & safety or security management or its equivalent. You have extensive facility management experience. 5+ years' experience of managing comparable QHSE operations/ departments in GCC region within education sector. Good knowledge of developing, implementing, and you have experience in education sector and working knowledge of FM service delivery and operations advantageous. Strong background in quality, health, safety and environmental management systems and regulations. You have good understanding and knowledge of hard and soft facilities management. You have experience in a wide range of software packages including (MS office, and preferable CMMS, CAFM, IWMS). Ability in speaking and writing English and Arabic. Highly self-motivated and able to work under own initiative. Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills. Knowing Oracle systems would be beneficial. You can build lasting client relationships and provide support to dynamic, motivated teams.

Employment: Full Time

Role & Responsibilities:

• Directs the resources and activities of the Department to support the HSE programs by providing advice and guidance to the Company Senior Management.

• Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the Department to create a culture that prioritizes effective HSE and balances overall associated costs.

• To carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company’s Policies & Procedures and any applicable state and federal laws.


Requirements

• Bachelor’s / Masters Degree in Engineering. Must hold MMUP Grade A Classification

• Experience – 10-15 years of construction safety experience managing project safety.

• Must have very good written and oral communications skills.

• Excellent computer skills required. Must have experience with Microsoft office programs.

• Good negotiating skills. Ability to make good judgments and render good decisions.

• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA 10 & 30 trained; OSHA 500, ASP, and CSP a plus.
