Job Purpose

The role of the Accountant involves the daily functions of Accounting and Finance (Book Keeping, Banking, Payables, Receivables, Budgeting, and Reporting). The Accountant also will receive and check the requests from other Schools/ Offices/ Departments and check its accuracy & alignment to AURAK/Office of Finance policies & procedures.


Minimum Qualification and Education

Bachelors in Accounting with not less than 3 years of experience

Job Description

Responsibilities

JOB SCOPE:

A key member of the accounting staff reporting directly to the Plant Controller. Major focus of responsibilities will be in the Manufacturing costing area, however there will be other accounting functions as well.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (not listed in any particular order)

Coordination of cost accounting and reporting activities

Setting Standard Costs of manufactured goods i.e. cost freezing

Assisting team in completing annual Cost roll

Ability to perform ad-hoc financial analysis as needed to support business

Establish annual labor and overhead rates

Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.

Clarify and troubleshoot contact items with estimators as needed.

Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports including comparison of standard costs to actual production costs i.e. review of JCV, PPV and other KPI’s.

Attend review meetings with Plant supervisors/managers and local management.

Assist in audits and general ledger preparation for closing activities.

Performing month-end cost accounting close (including Work order closures).

Assist in Conducting physical inventories/assets and monitor the cycle count program and posting the results

Performing account reconciliations & balance sheet reviews.


Qualifications

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor in Accounting with CA/CPA/ICWA degree.

Two to three or more years prior cost accounting experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Proficient presentation preparation, communication and writing skills.

Ability to work under pressure.

Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Abilitly to work and interact with personnel at all levels within the organization.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

J.D. Edwards Xe OneWorld experience is preferred.

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.

Job Description

• Manages the overall day-to-day UAE VAT compliance, reporting and effective filing of VAT returns, addressing queries and needs of the business, stays updated on VAT and local tax laws and complies with these. Liaises with the tax authorities and tax consultants, and related stakeholders.

• Provides necessary advice on VAT to all internal department and business units.

• Drafts VAT Policies, Standards, Manuals, Guidelines and ensure necessary training to all stakeholders.

• Supports the corporate Finance and Accounts team in achieving the organizational objectives assigned to the team and ensures that all accounting operations run smoothly.


Desired Candidate Profile

Work Experience Desired:

• Min. 5 years of Accounting/Finance work experience, of which 2-3 years should include UAE VAT experience.

• Excellent knowledge of UAE VAT laws and accounting, preferably within the ports/logistics industry.

• Should have filed UAE VAT returns independently and should be able to effectively resolve related queries.


Educational Requirements: Graduate in Accounting/Finance/Commerce. A professional certificate in the field of Taxation, Finance and Accounting would be preferable.


Professional Competencies Desired:

• Proficient in MS Office, with practical knowledge of SAP/Oracle ERP.

• Strong analytical and team-work abilities.
