Principal Instrumentation Engineer- Worley, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Major Accountabilities of Position
Overall supervision of instrument and control engineers, designers and technical personnel in the execution of the project and development of project deliverables.
Prepare cost, time and resource requirement estimates on assigned projects.
Manage design change within project budget and schedule framework.
Effective interaction with client engineering team for approval of design deliverables.
Represent organizational competency and capabilities at various forums.
Instrument design for the assigned project interacting with other disciplines, client and vendors as required.
Experience in the production, design, evaluation and specification of Instrument equipment and control systems, package instrumentation, field instruments, valves and Instrument bulk items including cabling in detailed design packages
Development of Instrument specifications, data sheets, Instrument Index, I/O list, Layout drawings, wiring details, Instrument sizing, Instrument MTO
Perform all associated instrument calculations covering, equipment sizing, cable sizing, UPS power requirements, Instrument air requirements etc.
Experience in preparation of Material Requisition, Scope of Works, review of offers, technical clarifications, technical bid evaluation, etc.
Participation in design reviews, value engineering, constructability and safety workshops
Ensuring technical integrity of the instrument deliverables for the project. In particular ensure compliance with the work scope and with applicable international standards
Knowledge / Experience / Competencies Required
Job Specific Knowledge: Experience in upstream Oil and Gas projects design experience on systems such as DCS, ESD, FF, SCADA, Telecoms and F&G systems.
Industry Specific Experience: Minimum 18 years of experience in Electrical design and engineering of oil & gas / large industrial projects Good knowledge of ADNOC standards, SHELL DEPs, International standards such as ISA, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA, IEC Standards
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Graduate Degree in Instrument or Electronic Engineering, Chartered Engineer is preferred
HSE Capability: Good knowledge of Hazardous Area classification, HAZID, HAZOP and SIL
IT Skills: Computer skills with MS office and Instrument engineering / sizing software such as SPI, AVEVA, Control valve / Flow element sizing, etc.
People Skills: Good communication skill, Leadership skill and able to guide team working locally as well as for workshare with centre of excellence and integrated delivery
Other: Experience in 3D model review and clash checking, HAZID, HAZOP and SIL workshop, Good command on English language – verbal as well as writing skills
