Position and responsibilities
The Team Leader WTC is part of the Commercial Department and reports directly to the Head of the Commercial department. In this key role you will lead the WTC team and ensure seamless execution of warehousing, CFS and forwarding services to our clients.
You will closely collaborate with other internal teams, such as Sales & Account Management of other business units, Customer Service, Documentation, Tally & Operations. Your responsibilities include safeguarding client interests, driving business growth (throughput, revenue, profitability), developing the skills of the WTC team, and leading cross-departmental process improvementsStakeholder management with ROP Customs is also an important part of this role.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Leading the daily operations of the WTC team by example; always with a ‘customer-first’ mindset;
- Achieving sales & business development targets;
- Draft rate calculations, quotations and agreements;
- Stakeholder management (e.g. ROP Customs);
- Coordination with other teams and departments to ensure flawless execution of client requirements;
- Providing customer service via phone, email and face-to-face contact; following up on requests, questions, enquiries and complaints;
- Invoicing according to Steinweg Oman (CSO) KPIs; debtor management after escalation by Finance department;
- Coordinating efficient and cost-effective logistics of CSO spare parts and equipment, in cooperation with the Procurement department;
- Driving continuous improvement of CSO processes and services. Drafting, maintaining & improving SOPs and ensuring adherence by the team;
- Engaging in training and improving staff competencies, productivity and quality of work; setting personal development targets and actively managing performance;
- Input and coordination with regard to updates/maintenance of IT systems used by the team (testing, implementation, improvements);
- Administration & archiving;
- Reporting on results, progress, improvements and issues to the Head of Commercial department.
What do we expect?
- Minimum Bachelor or equivalent experience;
- 6+ years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably at a senior level;
- Leadership skills, pro-active attitude and be safety oriented;
- Excellent communication in English (both verbal and written);
- Knowledge of applicable customs regulations and procedures;
- Good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders;
- Personal characteristics: integrity, honesty, transparency, persistence, accuracy, thoroughness, data-driven, and a strong drive for quality, efficiency and productivity. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Comfortable – and preferably experienced – with (implementing) IT solutions;
- For expats: willingness to relocate to Oman for at least 2 years.
Place and Country of Residence
The Team leader WTC will reside in Sohar (Oman). Oman is in the Middle East, on the southeastern end of the Arabian Peninsula. Winters are pleasantly subtropical (22–25°C), while summers can be hot (up to 45°C). Sohar is centrally located between the major cities Muscat, Dubai and Abu Dhabi which offer everything one could possibly need.
Sohar has a noticeable expat population consisting of citizens from multiple countries. Because of the large expat population, Sohar offers (international) schools, as well as various restaurants and shopping malls. The standard of education in Oman is generally high, and schools tend to have excellent facilities with extra-curricular activities.
Oman is a very safe country so it’s a particularly good environment to live in and to raise children.

About us
Since 2004, C. Steinweg Oman LLC (CSO) has operated the general cargo terminal in Sohar port (Oman), currently employing over 500 FTE. Our terminal of around 72 hectares facilitates stevedoring of cargoes from vessels to shore, and vice versa, as well as transshipment. CSO handles a wide variety of cargoes, ranging from dry bulk (aggregates, concentrates, ores, industrial feedstock, etc.), project cargo (OOG/heavy lift cargoes, etc.), breakbulk (coils, billets, wire rods, plates, big bags, timber, etc.) and RO-RO (cars, building equipment, cargo on Mafi-trailers, etc.).
Furthermore, we provide additional services like warehousing, a Container Freight Station (CFS), forwarding, and value adding services. Our warehousing is both bonded and non-bonded, as well as covered and not covered. The Container Freight Station (CFS) has the capacity to stuff and/or strip large amounts of containers, for any type of cargo. The forwarding focusses on clients that request an extension of our core services, e.g. transport of cargoes, booking of container sea-freight and/or support with custom clearance.
Clients range from the oil & gas industry, mining and/or manufacturing parties to globally operating trading and logistics companies. Our operation runs 24 hrs. per day, 365 days a year.
