Machine Operator, NOV Inc., Oman

We need a Machine Operator

Job Summary.

The operator position performs all tasks on the production line in a safe and efficient manner under the supervision of skilled Shift Leaders and Production In-change. Follow the production schedule and arrange for machine set-up, raw materials for production and update supporting records, as needed. Comply to the required safety and standard operating procedures while performing the various task on the shopfloor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist to coordinate work schedule with the Production In-charge/Shift Leader.
• Utilize recommended safe work habits and make use of all safety equipment provided.
• Responsible for machine set-up, raw materials, tools & accessories arrangements for manufacturing as required.
• Performs visual, dimensional checks and other measurement and inspections, leak test and record results. Alerts Team Leader to defects that are outside acceptable limits.
• Maintain and record specified tolerance/ dimensions as required on the manufacturing & Inspections reports and for accurate inventory management.
• Assist in maintenance related and troubleshooting activities.
• Refer to Process Control Procedure including sections: Machine Set-Up, Winding, Curing, and Stripping, cutting, end preparations, hydrotesting, finishing, spool assembly etc.
• Refer to various Process Control Procedures in-line with the Quality Management System requirements.
• Refer to Control of Measuring and Test Equipment Procedure, including section: Plant API Round Thread Ring Gauges (working type) for cut thread gauging
• Refer to Product Identification and Traceability Procedure.
• Refer to Handling and Storage Responsibility Procedure, including section: Transporting Fiberglass Products.
• Communicate any problems meeting product manufacturing specifications to the Shift Leaders department head.
• Assist with O.J.T. (On Job Training) of new employees. Train and upgrade skills of department personnel as needed.
• Involve in Internal Audits as per ISO 9001 & API Q1 requirements.
• Work in process extreme temperature.
• Cleaning of machine parts after every run. Responsible for maintaining shopfloor/work area and keep plant clean.
• Comply with all NOV FGS Company and HSE policies and procedures. Utilize recommended safe work habits and make use of all safety equipment provided.
• Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILL-SET REQUIRED:

Essential:

• 2 or more years’ experience working in a Manufacturing environment
• High school or equivalent Technical discipline education
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
• Able to use Hand tools, drill press, band saw, cut-off saw and other industrial equipment

Desirable:

• 3 or more years’ experience in the Fiber glass industries / relevant field
• Specialized courses in Mechanical, electrical and/or industrial engineering
• Local vehicle driving license will be advantageous
• Basic computer skills would be desirable
• Arabic language would be added advantage
• Ability to drive forklift would be added advantage (as per the local-legal requirements only)
