Job Purpose
An Environmental Specialist in the Maritime Cluster will play a crucial role in ensuring our operations are complying with local and international environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines applicable to maritime operations and promoting sustainability practices by working closely with our Business Units to minimize our environmental footprint and protect the fragile ecosystems of the oceans and coastal areas.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensure strict adherence to local and international environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines applicable to maritime operations including ISM, IMO, MARPOL
· Ensure & maintain Business units in achieving sustainability, environment, Safety & health & Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) objectives and KPIs including close out action plan.
· Maintain & review thorough Maritime Cluster & Business Units environmental impact assessments for proposed maritime projects, including port expansions, ship operations, and offshore activities.
· Provide training to maritime staff on environmental best practices, emergency response procedures, and the use of eco-friendly technologies.
· Collect and analyze data from Business Units related to environmental performance, emissions, and energy efficiency to identify areas for improvement.
· Carry out Internal HSE audits as per plan and support Business Units to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
· Provide guidance and assistance to business division in environmentally sustainable long terms projects in line with AD ports sustainability strategy.
· Ensure & Monitor the implementation of monitoring systems for air, water, and waste to track environmental performance.
· Identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize their impact.
Key Interaction
· Assist line manger to implement the environmental management system and associated plans and work instruction in Maritime Cluster.
· Maintain an active interaction with Business Units to implement environmental initiatives / programs aiming to improve the quality of the receiving environment that may be impacted by Marine activities.
· Review and monitor environment performance and activities and provide advice to continue improvement as necessary.
· Represent Maritime Cluster in related working groups, campaigns, initiatives, project, tender etc. as required.
· Assist in preparing environment submission & capabilities to new tender, services or awards.
· Prepare & assist in excellence awards submissions in HSE & Sustainability.
· Review Ibtikar environment related submission and monitor implementation as required.
Required Qualification and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
· Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
