Job Description
The Role
IHS Towers is looking for an experienced, dynamic and highly communicative Carbon Emissions Specialist/Manager to join our Operations/HSSE team and work from either London or Dubai.
Responsibilities
Be the subject matter expert for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the company.
Manage and deliver the reporting of Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions as well as the company’s emissions reduction target, with continued improvements implemented year-on- year. Help run internal / external assurance processes.
Support the ongoing improvement of IHS’ carbon footprint methodology documentation and provide technical support to reporting and assurance teams.
Collaborate with various teams (e.g. Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE),
Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), and Operations) to deliver the established emissions reduction target.
Identify and implement climate change best practice frameworks and trends (e.g., net zero,
circular economy, environmental impact, etc.).
Work closely with the Communications and Sustainability and Investor Relations teams on GHG emissions internal and external communications and disclosures.
Provide advice on climate change issues; develop mitigation and reduction strategies.
Benchmark goals and progress against sector peers to identify leadership opportunities,
trends.
Qualifications
Requirements
Four to seven years of relevant environmental sustainability or equivalent consulting
experience.
Experience developing carbon reduction and/or Net Zero strategies.
Experience and subject matter expertise in Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions reduction
strategies, measurement and reporting, energy efficiency improvements.
Knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting and reporting standards. Experience with TCFD, CDP, SBTi, and GRI is a plus.
Ability to take the lead in challenging situations in a confident and proactive manner.
Ability to collect information from disparate sources, coordinate, process, and analyse for
effective and impactful communications.
Consistent track record of working with sophisticated datasets, both qualitative and
quantitative, and presenting data insights through data visualization.
Self-motivated individual that excels in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to hit the ground running and make significant progress quickly.
Ability to communicate efficiently with multicultural teams across IHS’ operations.
Ability to assess, react quickly and decisively to problems, taking tough decisions where
needed or escalating issues as appropriate.
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (and ability to build and maintain complex spreadsheets).
French, Portuguese or Arabic-speaker would be an advantage.
Prior telecom experience would also be an advantage.
